IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NEW VOTERS:
• If you are a new voter and have not received your voter information card in the mail, please check with the Volusia County Elections Department to make sure that your registration form has not been rejected.
Florida has a new law, referred to as the “exact match” law, which results in newvoter registrations being rejected if the information provided on the registration form does not exactly match the information in other state databases. Statedatabases contain many data-entry errors, and thousands of new registration forms will likely be rejected due to data-entry problems.
New voters whose registrations have been rejected due to their registrations not exactly matching information in other state databases will have to vote by provisional ballot at their polling places—and will have just 48 hours after the election to go to the election office in DeLand to straighten out the problem. It is far better to catch these problems before the election, so please call the elections office if you have not received your voter information card to ensure that you are actually registered to vote.
• We have received reports of newly registered voters who are listed as being NPAs (no party affiliation), even though they registered, or intended to register, under a political party. If you have received your voter information card, please check to make sure that all the information on it is correct, including your name, address, polling place, and political party. You can check your polling place (also called your “precinct”) by clicking here.
